Article 370

In India, J&K was the only state which took special autonomy under Article 370 of the constitution of India. Article 370 provided the special provisions for J&K such as-

  • J&K state was free from the complete applicability of the Constitution of India. The J&K was allowed to have its own Constitution.
  • In J&K state restricted Central legislative powers Over three subjects of defence, foreign affairs and communications.
  • Other constitutional facilities of the Central Government could be extended to the State only with the ratified of the State Government.
  • J&K state had its own flag and constitution.
