Sikkim GK Questions and Current Affairs

Sikkim is one of the most beautiful states in northeast India. The state is well famous for its scenic beauty and wonderful tourist places.  It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the east, Nepal in the west and the Indian state of West Bengal in the south.


On 14 April 1975, an election was held, in which Sikkim voted to merge with the union of India. Sikkim became the 22nd Indian State on 26 April 1975. Sikkim officially became a state of the Indian Union and Lhendup Dorji became head of State (chief minister) On 16 May 1975. Sikkim is the second smallest state in India. It is covered by three Countries Nepal, Bhutan and China and the people of Sikkim Consist of three ethnic groups Nepali, Bhutia and Lepcha.

Administrative Structure

According to the 1991 census, the urban population of the state is 37006 and Gangtok alone has a population of 25024 which is 68% of the whole population of Sikkim.
