UGC NET Cut off December 2020 (Expected Cut off)

Greetings to all the UGC NET Aspirants..!! The notification of the University Grant Commission-National Eligibility Test  June 2020 has been announced. The candidates applying for UGC NET June 2020 Exam are required to apply online from 16th March to 16th April 2020. In this article, we will try to clear all the doubts regarding CBSE NET Cut off 2019 and procedure to calculate Cut off score for UGC NET.

UGC NET Cut off 2020

Before we start, let’s make it clear that the role of CBSE is only up to conducting the NET Examination and declaring result based on the cut-off score. The UGC- NET Bureau issues e-certificates to all the qualified candidates and all the qualified candidates are informed to contact the UGC for further assistance.

The Importance of CBSE NET Cut off.

Every Year thousands of Postgraduates and PhD Scholars appears for the CBSE NET examination and only 6-10% of them are lucky enough to clear the exam. The e-certificates issued by the UGC Board to the successful NET candidates can be used to pursue following activities.

Junior Research Fellowship

  • The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject.
  • The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.
  • ***A JRF is also eligible for Assistant Professor.

Assistant Professor

  • A candidate who qualifies for the award of Assistant Professor is eligible to apply for Assistant Professor and Lecturer (in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject) in various state and central Universities/Colleges spread across the country.
  • The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET.
  • However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for award of JRF.

How to Calculate UGC NET Cut off 2020?

The CBSE Examination authority calculates the UGC NET cut off 2020 based on the marks scored by an aspirant in the UGC NET Exam. The procedure to calculate UGC NET 2020 cut off can be briefly understood by the process given below.

1st Step – Clearing the CBSE NET Qualifying marks

The examination authority has set up a Category wise Cut off score for all the subjects. A Candidate has to secure the minimum qualifying marks in all the three papers of UGC NET in order to get shortlisted for JRF or Assistant Professorship. The UGC NET qualifying marks for the different category are listed below.

Step II – Merit list based on UGC NET Cut off 2020

In step-II, a separate merit list of all the eligible candidates who have cleared the Step-I will be prepared. The authority will prepare the merit list by aggregating the total marks scored by the candidate in all the three papers (Category wise and Subject wise).

Step III- Declaration of the Final Result

Based on the Merit list prepared by the Board in Step-II, only 15% of the Top Candidates in each subject will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only. Here it is to be noted that the authority will prepare a separate merit list for awarding Junior Research Fellowship by considering age, the difficulty level of exam and other deciding eligibility criteria.
